WBD Best Door Competition
On World Book Day, we at Ben Jonson Primary School, held a decorate the door competition based around our class books. Each class spent the day doing activities based on our class text and displayed them around the doorways into our rooms. Because it was very competitive the judging took place in the afternoon and was completed in secret! In Each Key Stage there was an overall winner; for Key stage one the winner was Azure class with their superb display on the Gruffalo and for Key Stage two the winning class was Mediterranean whose theme was The Blurred Man – they even included an acting performance to go alongside their door!
World Book Day at Ben Jonson
Our World book Day started with an assembly led by a theatre group, which was quite hilarious. Every class had chosen a special book for today. Some classes were filled with astronauts and aliens (from Man on the moon), others looked like Hogwarts school for wizardry (Harry Potter). Crocodiles were roaming in Lizard Street near Year 3 (Krindlekrax) and our playground was filled with witches, farm animals, foxes and even some Gruffalos. (What the ladybird heard, Room on the broom, Fantastic Mr. Fox and The Gruffalo).
Here’s a selection of some of our book characters. Keep posted to find out about the winner of the World Book Day decorated door competition and videos from our workshops.
